Salt and Pepper Tofu

Our Salt and Pepper Tofu is the perfect vegetarian main to celebrate Chinese New Year!

Indredients

17g salt

15g crack pepper

400g cornflour

30g Essential Cuisine Peanut Free Satay Style Seasoning

4 eggs, whisked

1.2kg firm tofu, cut into large dice

150g onion, sliced

150g green pepper, deseeded and sliced

30g garlic, peeled and crushed

60ml water

20ml sesame oil

Method

  1. Preheat a fryer to 180c.

  2. Mix the salt, pepper, Essential Cuisine Peanut Free Satay Style Seasoning and cornflour in a bowl.

  3. Coat each piece of tofu in the cornflour mix, then the egg and then back into the cornflour mix. Gently place in the fryer. Cooking in batches for around 3 minutes.

  4. Heat the sesame oil in a wok and add the onion, green pepper and garlic. Fry for 2 minutes, then toss the tofu through the mix, add the water then toss again. Place in a serving dish.
